Brian Wedemeier of Tiedt Photography in Sumner, Ia. started in 1989 working in the darkroom and wedding assistant. Now 17 years later, Brian is manager and mainstream photographer. His journey from darkroom to digital has been a real learning experience, but with good solid basic education of exposure, light, composition, style, and art, he is sought, after for all types of photography. Starting in 1991 when digital photography hit the professional photographer, it was an educational blitz. Today, Brian averages 200 hours of education in the photography industry every year.

After graduating from Hawkeye Institute of Technology, he ventured to Tacoma, WA to work for one of the largest studios, photographing about 2-3,000 contract high school seniors, in 5-6 months. (They do senior portraits a little different out there). After returning to Iowa, he worked for few studios in the Cedar Valley. He had held several different positions in the photographic and art fields. That is why his style of photography is in such high demand, his numerous years of education and experience. That's main the difference, between Tiedt Photography and the other studios.

Brian returned to the studio in 1994 as production manager and wedding photographer. In 1997, his family purchased the studio, and maintained the integrity and artistic images desired through out the Mid-west. The studio concentrates on Senior, Family, Wedding, & Children's portrait lines.

During his career in photography he has worked hard to earn the Professional Photographer of America Certified degree 1997, and received his Masters Degree in 2000 and Craftsman in 2004 respectively. He gives programs on Weddings, Seniors, & Photographic Marketing at Midwest conventions & seminars. He also has a few PPA Loan Prints, which is a true honor in the PPA International Print Competition. Brian is also very active in the Professional Photographers of Iowa and other organizations.

Danielle Mihm, the newest member of our Tiedt Photography family, handles the computer end of our digital photography and lends a hand as a photo assistant in the photo studio and at weddings. Originally from Waucoma, she graduated from Turkey Valley in 1998 and earned a Bachelors degree in Graphic Design before spending a few years traveling, only to end up back where she began! Besides working, Danielle enjoys reading, bartending, watching movies and spending time with her friends and family.
